Some dreams have stayed with me for years…
I occasionally think back on a dream I had eleven or more years ago:
From a long distance away, I watch the sinking of the Titanic in the night waters of the Atlantic.
The ship’s nose tilts skyward. People bob in the water. Survivors pack into a number of lifeboats.
So, was the dream telling me that I’d be blindsided—a victim of my own arrogance?
After considering the developments in my life following the dream, I would say…
…maybe, maybe that interpretation is correct.
I’ve often wondered about our fascination with the Titanic. Yes, it’s a powerful story—a warning about the hazards of overconfidence.
Well, I’ve rarely been overconfident.
In that case, perhaps the dream has an even broader scope…
Could it be that the dream tells of potential dangers, not to myself, but to my country—to the entire world?
One doesn’t need to be a prophet to see we’re heading into some dangerous waters.
Anyway, I’m not claiming any visionary powers for myself.
I know that dreamers can receive psychic messages from dreams. Maybe such messages are not limited to events in the dreamer’s personal life…
Maybe we also receive dreams that refer to the larger picture.
Nonetheless, I first consider a dream to be a picture of my current, waking life.
Maybe my Titanic dream does refer to future upheavals to be faced by us all…
…but even if that’s true, it could have also told of immediate trouble in my own small world.
